Born on January 26, 2001, in Jesenice, Slovenia, Samar has been a standout player for the Canary Islands team, contributing points, assists, and solid defense. During his time at Dreamland Gran Canaria, he demonstrated versatility, capable of impacting both the perimeter and the paint.
Before joining Dreamland Gran Canaria, Ziga Samar had a notable career in the Union Olimpija Ljubljana youth system and in the youth categories of Real Madrid. His career in Spain began with CB Zamora, where he shone in LEB Plata, before making the jump to Liga Endesa with Baloncesto Fuenlabrada. At Fuenlabrada, Samar showcased his scoring and assisting ability, earning a spot in the starting lineup.
After his stint with Fuenlabrada, Ziga Samar moved to Germany, where he played for Hamburg Towers and Alba Berlin. In January 2025, he was loaned to Dreamland Gran Canaria, where he continued to develop as a player and contributed to the team's success in the ACB.
