Before joining Dreamland Gran Canaria, Ziga Samar had a notable career in the Union Olimpija Ljubljana youth system and in the youth categories of Real Madrid. His career in Spain began with CB Zamora, where he shone in LEB Plata, before making the jump to Liga Endesa with Baloncesto Fuenlabrada. At Fuenlabrada, Samar showcased his scoring and assisting ability, earning a spot in the starting lineup.
After his stint with Fuenlabrada, Ziga Samar moved to Germany, where he played for Hamburg Towers and Alba Berlin.
